"Wtf is a Silent Disco?!"

So hell yeah there was a Silent Disco @ Sunburst KL '09!

Well I figured, some of you might be wonder,
"Wtf is a Silent Disco?"

To answer that question, let's take a look at my guide on
How-To-Make-Your-Own-Silent-Disco,
so that you can get a better picture.

1) *MUST* Have a huge place for people to look dorky in, preferably outdoors and in plain sight.

2) Set up a stage, complete with decks and equipment together with flashing lights and a funky backdrop to set the mood!

*People in front who were trying to dance but were unable to do so is optional, and not recommended.

3) Get 2 hot DJs to spin and put em on a pedastal like so.

4) Provide each entrant a wireless headset.

There are two channels (A and B), one for each DJ spinning.
Pick your fancy.

5) Go crazy.

I'm 18!

Happy 18th Birthday Me!

This is supposed to be a landmark year. The year, where you hit the age every teenager (and seemingly everyone above 40) wants to be! The year, where you are at your physical peak (if this the peak, how wonderful for me. Thanks big guy -.-); when you are considered an 'adult' - in the legal sense of the word - where everything is not so grown up, and *almost* nothing is 'haram' anymore. For me, that year will be 2009 :)

Enough philosophy. Let's get straight to the birthday dinner that night!

Review: Sheraton Imperial, Kuala Lumpur's Buffet Dinner.

Started off with a salad mix. Apt, nothing wow. But as always, what I need to start off a buffet.

Oysters and lime. Not bad, but i'm not really into seafood, so can't critique on this.
Haha, and no I don't buy into it being an aphrodisiac, so that doesn't help either!

California rolls! Now this, I liked! Yes, it just had the basic ingredients of a Cali roll, but the fish roe-in-mayo was mmmm mmmm. Had all 3 for myself!

Salmon and Tuna sashimi. Was good, but not a big fan of raw fish in general, not since A showed me a picture of this guy under the knife because of maggots in his brain from sushi overload.
(Don't worry, won't put it up :P)

Bread pudding topped with vanilla and strawberries! Very yummy.
Always a favourite of mine :)

my Birthday cake! Yummm it was goooood~

My parents' kill 2 birds with 1 stone scheme:"Let's take him out to a fancy dinner, but let's make it a buffet so we can eat as much as we want and... possibly get a free cake from the dessert counter that's already part of the bill!"
Can't say that i mind though ;)

Was layered with chocolate, pandan, and this uniquely awesome brown-gooey (i'm afraid i don't know what it was, should've asked! And this was simply what made it so special.. haha). Unique, I liked that.
All in all, a wonderful blend, though a tad sweet, but just how I like dessert.
Glad my "OUT WITH THE CHOCOLATE BANANA SECRET RECIPE CAKE ALREADY" cries were heard.

Just the 3 of us. Miss you bro!

Cut.

But I couldn't leave just yet. Not without...

WAFFLES!
This is the prettiest waffle i have ever eaten... Tasted as good as it looked too.
You don't get that often.
Something that tastes as good as it looks.
*Concept applicable to people as well.
And yes, only THEN we could go home :P

All in all, this place is recommended. Just don't go there just for the food. The array is not as wide for true foodies to enjoy. So instead, go for the ambience, quiet environment, and (if you're lucky) nice jazz music flowing from the live band the floor below - perfect for a date. At around RM80++, make sure you have a Starwood Hotel Card to get 50% off, or else it wouldn't be as satisfying for you as it was for me!

! SURPRISE !
Thanks Dad, Mom :D

I don't think this would be a good time to do a no-hander...

Most careful I have ever been with birthday wrapping... Not that I'm not usually, but I managed to unwrap the entire thing in one piece this time :P

I have a pretty good idea what it is by now...
a cat. A dead cat in a box. I hate cats.

Thank God its not a cat. I love love love love love it!!! :D
My new 16-inch baby. Yes, it feels that good.

Haven't named it yet though, will let you all know when i do!

This probably meant that for my birthday, my parents had managed to get rid of 3 birds with 1 stone.

Birthday dinner? Check.

Birthday cake?         Check.

Birthday present/Laptop for the US?      Check.

Damn, they're good.

Sunburst KL '09!

Yes, I know it is long overdue, but I really need to blog about Sunburst KL '09!

I missed the one last year, well, i blame it on the ticket prices that i can't afford, no matter how long the show may be.. But this year, it was all down to Diyana, so a big big Thank You has to go out to her for taking me :)
Thanks Diyana! :D

First off, there are going to be alot of pictures in here labelled "Us" - just to note that'll be Me, Quz, Diyana, and Ibnu, because well, we probably hung out together alot that day.

Well, as you probably know, Sunburst is an annual 12-hour music festival that was started in '08, showcasing local, Asian, and International acts non-stop! This year there were four stages: Livesounds, and Loud & Clear, the two under-the-tent; and

Sky, and Sun, the two huge outdoor stages

I was surprised at the efficiency and dedication to the time slots, everything progressed simultaneously, one after the other quite well! Like after one act, all we'd have to do was just turn around and head to the next stage because they'd be already raring to go! Awesomeeeee :)

Estrella! (So that's what she looks like...)

N.E.R.D.
They played a seriously wicked set! Dissed the security, lay down some 'Rules'... ah, so good!

N.E.R.D.

Korn

They started up close to midnight, but I was leaving by then, so didn't really get to stay long... But what i did hear, was awesome.
"I'M SORRY IT TOOK 15 YEARS FOR US TO GET HERE! ... YOU GUYS WANNA HEAR SOME OLD SHIT? HUH? DO YOU? SOME OLD SHIT?"
*huge cheers*
"SO LET'S GO, 'FAGGOTS!'" (incidentally also the name of the song)

There were also tons of stalls and entertainment abound on the rest of the field!

Nita and Quz
I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw Hard Rock Cafe having a booth as well!

Quz, Ibnu, and Bern
In front of Speedzone (>18. 4 more days for me also tak jadi)

the amazing Graffitti Wall

Bern

Our futile attempts to get a "tan." More like Bern, and I was just tagging along... I was stupidly wearing jeans and a black shirt (black absorbs the most heat) to an outdoor concert in the blazing sun with perfectly good weather! What a waste! :(

And of course, 7-11 has to be there.

Apa la budak perempuan ni... suka main bola (esp. besar ones)

Zah and Us, promoting Coffee Bean... Two of us actually fell for her marketing ploy (not me!) haha :P

Silent Disco-ing! Woot Woot!

Okay, so maybe you're wondering "Wtf is a Silent Disco?!!" (all will be revealed in the next post)

Also, thank the heavens (read: Diyana) for having the VIP Pavilion to go to!
A place to unwind and SIT, not to mention free food and drinks! A real lifesaver :D

About 8 hours into the freakin' festival, i needed a sugar rush... Cupcakes work just fine :P

But a real highlight of the day, had to be getting to meet the celebs! Again, thanks she-who-has-been-named-too-many-times! :D

Us and Camilia (I didn't even know that was her untl then. Smiles. Haha!)

Us and Korn

Us and Pharell

Us and the rest of N.E.R.D.
*More pics on fb.

Loved it!

Ah, what an extremely satisfying way to spend a Saturday :)
